CEMA Awards 2011

CEMA (CULTURAL AND EXTRA-MURAL AWARDS)

This scheme acknowledges the extra-mural involvement of the girls.  This includes music, the choirs, orchestras and other musical ensembles, dance, drama, outreach and service.  (Sound engineering falls under service).

There are five levels of award, namely Commended, Highly Commended, Half Colours, Colours and Honours.  Each recipient receives a certificate.  Commended and Highly Commended certificates are handed out at tutor group and Half Colours, Colours and Honours certificates are handed out at assembly.  Currently Colours and Honours recipients are entitled to wear appropriate insignia on their blazers and similar recognition for Half Colours is in the pipeline.

Each discipline has a set of criteria which has been posted up on relevant notice boards around the school.  Teachers submit citations for each prospective recipient.  The proposals are put before the CEMA Committee who discusses them and accepts or rejects them.  Usually the proposal is accepted.  The CEMA Committee normally meets twice a term.
