DSG Girls achieve excellence in Matric Finals

We are thrilled to announce our superb 2017 results, which are heralded by three of our girls being listed on the IEB commendable list for being placed in the top 5% of all Matric IEB candidates in five subjects.  Warm congratulations are extended to Alice Godlonton (Grahamstown), Caitlin Bailey (Knysna) and Annabelle Schaeffer (Johannesburg).


The results across the board are outstanding and the entire Matric class of 2017 is to be congratulated.

Alice Godlonton attained eight subject distinctions, 6 of which were over 90%. Claire Squires (Kimberley) also achieved 8 subject distinctions. Caitlin Bailey, Julie Jevon (East London), Tamia Mfazi (East London), Annabelle Schaeffer and Abigail Wood (Johannesburg) all attained a full house of 7 subject distinctions.

The following girls achieved 6 subject distinctions: Lisa Huber (Cape Town), Katherine Lane (Johannesburg), Louisa Pagel (Bathurst), Jessica Rushmere (Port Elizabeth), Kirstie Stevenson (Hong Kong) and Emma Stijkel (Zimbabwe). Megan Jones (Cape Town), Isabella Kindersley (Grahamstown) and Nichola Quarmby (Cape Town) achieved 5 distinctions.

In addition to this, the girls attained a whopping 173 subject distinctions and 176 B symbols. This means that 35% of all symbols achieved by the 68 candidates were distinctions and 36% were B symbols.

The following two girls have been placed in the top 1% in the country for individual subjects:

Physical Sciences: Alice Godlonton

Visual Arts: Willow Gainsford
