The DSG is committed to high academic standards and has a proud record of achievement.
Your daughter will be taught by energetic, enthusiastic and well-qualified teachers who provide quality instruction in a stimulating environment. Small classes, generously resourced departments and outstanding facilities provide an academic framework tailored for personal attention.
The curriculum, which includes an exceptionally wide choice of subjects, is under constant review and staff members keep abreast of developments in all areas and at every level.
Part of our academic success is the House Tutor system. Each girl is put in the care of a tutor who is with her for her entire school career. Within this small tutor group which meets weekly, your daughter’s academic, social and emotional development will be closely monitored. It also creates the perfect platform for encouraging individuality and independent thought.
Pure academic accomplishment is not the ultimate goal. Our girls are also educated in life skills such as a strong work ethic, responsibility and self-discipline.
The DSG, in collaboration with St Andrew’s College, is one of only four South African schools privileged to offer Old Girls the opportunity to apply for the prestigious Rhodes scholarship on an annual basis. This scholarship gives them the opportunity to proceed to Oxford University for post- graduate studies.
