Girls from Grade 8 - 12
T he Diocesan School for Girls (DSG), one of the oldest girls’ schools in South Africa, values its tradition of excellence but also recognises the need to be at the cutting edge of educational trends.
Many of the traditional stereotypes have disappeared and women in the twenty-first century have choices and options available to them that no other generation has had. At DSG, we welcome the increasing influence of women in society and recognise that the modern school needs to prepare girls for the role they can play. Our aim is to develop girls who are forward thinking, transformative in their world-view and critical, independent problem-solvers; young women who can make sound ethical judgements with a keen sense of their social responsibilities. At the end of her school career, a DSG girl will be a strong, confident woman – a woman who will be adaptable in coping with a rapidly changing world; who is prepared to be a leader and to play a meaningful role – in short, a woman of substance.
