The message of Godspell is in the music
Fast-paced, exhilarating, hysterical and moving are key words to describe the St Andrew’s and the DSG production of ‘Godspell’ which will be staged at the St Andrew’s Drill Hall from 20 to 23 June. A talented cast of 24 pupils will keep audiences entertained and enthralled with the story which is based on the Gospel according to St Matthew.
Providing the music for the production is an exceptional band including Mike Bester (guitar), Keith Moss (piano), Steve Ellis (keyboard) and Gareth Walwyn (keyboard). This very successful 70s Broadway musical has been ‘freshened-up’ for 21st century youth under the direction of Aidan Smith.
“Godspell’s universality and accessibility are the reasons why it still speaks to audiences today, and that is why it is still appeals after so many decades,” said Smith. “The creativity of the cast never ceases to astound me. They are just an endless source of wonderful ideas and insights particularly in the dance choreography.”
Tickets are available in the afternoon from Barbara at St Andrew’s on 046 603 2300. A light soup supper will be served at tables during interval.
