SHOOTING
Douglas and back is a path to be least travelled, but it was a necessary one for Laura Bryan who was competing in the North West Open Air Rifle Championships and second round of trials.
Laura had a very good shoot. She won gold in the U16 event, with a good consistent score. The time has come now for her to work towards achieving an MQS at her next competition, so that, if she has set her sights on National representation, she will become a shooter in contention.
As always, Laura and the two boys were great ambassadors for DSG and College; they may have learnt some Afrikaans along the way, and they made new friends. Best of all, they laughed a lot, and made the most of truly Spartan conditions, shooting in a potato shed, and sleeping at the Douglas Hoerskool hostel which is a far cry from what they have experienced at DSG and College.
I congratulate Laura on a great achievement: she has won a medal at every competition in which she has competed. Long may the silverware continue to grow!
