Debating
The Debating Society travelled to East London this past weekend to compete in the National Independent Debating and Public Speaking Competition which brought together schools from all over South Africa. The girls participated in 4 categories: Impromptu speaking, persuasive or after dinner speeches, interpretive reading and 2 rounds of debating. Even though the girls were not used to this format in public speaking they continued to give their best and provided outstanding results. Nomtha Ngumbela was ranked 22nd in the Debating section and 18th in the After dinner speech out of 67 competitors. The girls came back with a new understanding of Public speaking and we hope to see them participate in the NIDPSC again next year. The girls were extremely well behaved and it was a pleasure accompanying them. Well done girls!
