The DSG Athletes took part in the Albany Trials round of athletics over the past weekend. The girls did exceptionally well with 9 athletes being selected for the Albany Team that will compete in the Cacadu round of trials this weekend in Humansdorp.
Aviwe Ntsangase won the U15 javelin with a distance of 20.48m.
Shaleeni Ranchod won the U19 shot put with a distance of 7.54m
Lucie Palmer ran in the U19 200m event replacing an injured Sam Macdonald. Lucie did exceptionally well coming 2nd in time of 31.48sec. Lucie is an U17 athlete and was competing out of her age category.
Chloe Leo and Dara Ngxenge came 1st (30.49s) and 2nd (30.60s) respectively in the U17 200m. Dara also finished 2nd (14.16s) position in the U17 100m.
Mary-Anne Brown won the U19 1500m event in a time of 5min45,37sec
Amy Tearle U17 (1.45m), Andrea Barnard U17 (1.40m) and Emma Dreyer U15 (1.30m) all qualified for the Albany team in the high jump event.
