The DSG Staff children's camp took a committment from the girls of many hours this weekend in which they mentored and partnered with our DSG staff children. It was good to see the girls making an effort to get to know the children. Many new friendships blossomed as the girls watched the children undertake activities they had never previously had the opportunity to try. Some of the girls stayed the night to watch over the children and were said to have carried sleepy children back to the beds at midnight. This was certainly going the extra mile and was much appreciated by us all. The staff children behaved very well and I think we have all come away with a new sense of respect for the staff's role as parents. I think each of us present on this camp has also been challenged to see our DSG staff in a new way.

Other girls were involved in the Brookshaw Old Age Home street collection. The girls who volunteered were smartly dressed and did a courageous and good job of challenging people to part with their money. For those teachers and parents who wandered past the girls this Saturday and witnessed them collecting money it was very affirming of DSG and made us very proud.
