MATRIC DANCE - 2011
The Matric Dance on Saturday 12 March was wonderful evening. The Grade 8 girls followed the tradition of fetching the St Andrew’s partners in their carefully-thought-out costumes. The Matric girls, resplendent in their white dresses, were joined by partners, staff and parents around the DSG fountain for a pre-dance drink. The weather cleared for the occasion and allowed for a wonderful precursor to the dance. The DSG girls surrounded the fountain looking on in admiration and awe.
The girls and partners then made their way to the dance venue in an assortment of vehicles from limousines to cattle trucks. Many laughs and photographs were shared during the chaos that ensued in Worcester Street.
The dance itself was a glamorous affair that was opened with a speech by Mrs Frayne and grace by the head sacristan, Rosie Allanson. The head-girl, Ingrid Froneman, opened the dance floor with her partner, David Gilfillan. They were soon joined by most of the party who only left the floor to get a breath of fresh air.
