MUSIC TOUR 2011
The Music School students visited Cape Town during their Annual tour this year. The 73 members of the Wind Band, Jazz Band, Pipe Band, Chamber Choir and Chapel Choir played 5 concerts in as many days, treating audiences to an amazing diversity of music of very high quality. During the first concert at Pinelands High School, Mr Pretorius conducted a combined Pinelands/DSG/SAC Wind Band of 62 members. This was one of the highlights of the tour. It was however not all work and no play, as the students embarked on some serious adventurous outings to the go-kart track, pin-ball alley and an boat trip to seal island. The female component of the group appreciated the opportunities to do some extensive shopping in Cape Town’s main centres. A visit to the very distinguished Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre was an inspiring experience for the small group of students. The successful tour concluded with a concert in “Evita se Perron” in the beautiful town of Darling, where Pieter-Dirk Uys assembled a most appreciative and enthusiastic audience. Thank you to all the students for their impeccable behaviour and to each staff member for the hard work and positive leadership.
